Holy Week concert

The Pocono Mountain Community Chorus will present a Holy Week concert at 7:30 p.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.

Chorus founder and director Jack Hamblin has selected a program of sacred music drawn from various periods, composers and styles.

Accompanists will be Judy Munoz and Gary Raish.

The chorus consists of singers from more than 30 different area churches of all denominations.

A freewill offering is received at each concert to benefit the Chorus’ Music Fund.

All are welcome to attend.

St. Peter’s schedule

The Methodist church in Saylorsburg begins its Holy Week and Easter celebrations with a 7 p.m. Holy Thursday service with a Last Supper celebration in remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice. All are welcome at the table.

On Good Friday the women of St. Peter’s will meet at Chestnuthill Diner in Brodheadsville at 10 a.m. for fellowship and inspiration as Cathy Sufrich and Sharon Bean bring the good news to the assembled women of faith.

Others are welcome at the breakfast to become acquainted with other Christian women.

Vietnam veterans

A Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Monroe County Courthouse Square in Stroudsburg.

Among those who will be remembered are West Enders who served and gave their all.

QOP services

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, will have morning prayer at 8 a.m., but not Mass on Holy Thursday morning. The Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be at 7 p.m. that evening.

On Good Friday there will again be morning prayer at 8 a.m., but no Mass.

A 3-hour famine begins at 9 a.m. Good Friday. There are no youth meetings this week.

Holy Saturday will also have morning prayer at 8 a.m. and a blessing of the Easter baskets at 1 p.m., followed at 2 p.m. by an Easter egg hunt. The Great Easter Vigil begins at 8 p.m., and on Easter Sunday, Mass will be offered at 8 and 11 a.m.
