Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary meets
The regular monthly meeting of the VFW Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial Post 8008 was held on March 16 with President Christa Kattner presiding.
General Orders 8 were read and filed for action. Thank-you notes were received from Family Promise and the VFW National Home.
The Hometown Heroes project is currently underway for this year. Eighty cards were sent by members present since the last meeting.
Fifty-two hours were reported under community service, and a donation of lock ties for the banners was noted.
The sign-up sheet for the Buddy Poppy King and Queen is up at the Post Home; the selection will be made at the April 20 meeting. Buddy Poppy days at Redner’s are set for May 4-6.
Loyalty Day will be held on May 1 at the Post Home. Membership currently stands at 94.7 percent, with four members needed for 100 percent. New members are always welcome.
The Easter egg hunt will be held at the Post Home at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Preregistration is required.
The UVO meeting was held on March 19. March 29 is Vietnam veterans day.
A donation was approved for the local American Cancer Society Telethon, which will be held in April.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 20. Loyalty Day and Memorial Day will be discussed then.
Nomination and election of officers will be held at the April meeting. All members are encouraged to attend and undertake an elective or appointed office, or a program chairmanship for the unit to have a successful year.
