Large pothole blamed for motorcycle crash
A large pothole was blamed for a crash involving a motorcycle that occurred at 5:15 p.m. Sunday in Schuylkill County.
State police at Frackville said Brian Marhon, 41, of Shenandoah, was operating a 2001 Harley-Davidson Sportster southbound on Woodside Road in Cass Township when the bike hit the pothole, causing Marhon to lose control. The bike fell onto the travel lanes of the road.
Marhon and his passenger, Denise Halcovage, 42, of Seltzer, were injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Troopers noted neither were wearing protective helmets. Troopers also noted the township maintenance authorities were notified of the hazardous conditions of the road.
