Summit Hill man facing drug counts
A Summit Hill man is facing drug charges following an incident on March 16 in the borough.
Police said an officer was on duty and parked in the lot of the Miners Market, 127 E. Amidon St., when a vehicle pulled into a parking space next to the patrol car. When the operator, a man, opened the door of his vehicle the officer could detect the odor of burned marijuana coming from the vehicle.
The officer made contact with the driver, identified as James Gregory Jellyman, 22, of 132 E. Hazard St. The officer informed Jellyman of the marijuana smell at which time Jellyman retrieved from the center console a red painted Mason jar with two baggies in it. One contained a small amount of marijuana and the second with flakes. Jellyman also gave the officer a black scale and a green grinder.
Jellyman was taken into custody and transported to the police station where he provided a statement after waving his Miranda rights.
