Blue Mountain Resort announces end of season

Blue Mountain Resort plans to end its 2017-18 winter season with a splash on Sunday.

The resort’s annual Pond Skim Event will be held, sponsored by Shea’s Hardware in Palmerton.

Participants who skim across the pond located on the Vista Trail will win a free T-shirt.

Registration is free, but requires a lift ticket to participate. Guests can register from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Alpine Room, with skimming starting promptly at noon.

Spectators do not require tickets, and are encouraged and will be able to walk out onto the Vista Trail where the event will take place.

Participants under the age of 17 require a parent or guardian signature.

While the resort has decided to close its trails for the skiing and riding season, it will reopen its doors from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, to celebrate the 40th anniversary.

The resort will be offering some new and exciting features and outdoor activities for this summer.

The summer season kicks off with its free Bark Bash on May 5.

Guests are encouraged to bring their best furry friend and enjoy live music, great food and even more fun. Local rescues will be in attendance for those who are looking for their new best furry friend.

The resort offers downhill mountain biking, an expanded high ropes course in the Summit, outdoor laser tag, Action Archery, adventure camp for kids ages 8-14, and more.

All outdoor adventure activities will start on May 19.

Slopeside Pub & Grill will be launching its new summer menu on April 16, featuring dishes made from locally sourced produce and ingredients

There will also be a variety of events and happenings throughout the summer, such as Theme Nights, Trivia Tuesdays, and Patio Party Thursdays.
