Carbon woman pleads to two drunken driving counts
A Carbon County woman who was scheduled to go on trial on Monday on driving under the influence of a controlled substance charges, instead entered guilty pleas in two pending cases.
Patricia Lynn Moyer, 53, of Palmerton, entered the pleas before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II. Moyer previously pleaded guilty to the charges in April 2017 but later filed a petition to withdraw her pleas, which was granted by the court.
The new pleas were accepted, and in one case she was immediately sentenced and the second case was deferred.
In both cases she was arrested by state police at Lehighton. The first arrest occurred on Sept. 22, 2015, and the second on Oct. 3, 2015.
In the first case Nanovic sentenced her to serve 30 days to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension, court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole. She will begin the jail term at 11 a.m. April 9 and serve it in consecutive two-day periods of Monday to Wednesday until the 30 days have been served.
In the second case sentencing was deferred because she must obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.
