Police say incident wasn't attempted abduction, alert cancelled

Lansford Police Department has determined that a suspicious incident in the borough on Thursday was not an attempted child abduction.

Police located a gold Chevrolet Suburban with New York license plates that was reported to police Thursday evening. 
A minor reported that around 7 p.m., someone had exited the vehicle and spoke to them. 

Lansford Police posted a picture of a similar vehicle on social media Thursday night, asking residents to call 911 if they saw it. The post was shared over 1,000 times.

In a follow-up post on Friday, Lansford Police canceled the alert and said the incident was not an attempted child abduction.

The police department thanked local residents for providing assistance in the case.
