A look back: April 6, 1970
Led by John Vaccaro, a state director and head of the Apple Butter Sunday committee in Lehighton, 22 volunteers sold a total of 1,400 jars of the specialty in Lehighton yesterday.
The canvassers included Martha Cox, Susan Cox, William Cox, Dennis Derr, Ronald Roy Derr, Gary Donner, Charles Meckes, James Deutsch, Pat Schoenberger, Larry Koons, Thomas McCartney, Cathy Humphries, Pam Kresge, Mary Jo Hahn, Brenda Garvin, Nita Hall, Glen Miller, Craig Koons, Daniel Hall, John K. Deutsch, David Green and Linda Fisher.
The sale will continue next week when another effort will be made to sell 400 more jars.
