Area man faces arson charges
A Tobyhanna man who intentionally set a home on fire in that community is behind bars following his arraignment on Wednesday.
Dellmont Pooley, 43, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Danielle Travagline of Hamilton Township on charges of arson, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. He was jailed at the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Pocono Mountain Regional Police said they accompanied members of the Coolbaugh Township Volunteer Fire Department to a report of a fully-involved house fire at 2962 Rustic Lane, Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh Township, at 2:31 p.m., and, upon arrival, made contact with an Amy Corwin, who was attempting to enter the residence claiming that her boyfriend, Pooley, was still inside the residence.
Police said the firemen were able to confirm that he was not inside the residence.
The investigation revealed Pooley and Corwin arrived at the residence to gather belongings. While there, they got into an argument. Corwin said she went to leave the residence but Pooley stopper her. He then said he would burn the house down.
Corwin said she left the premises but came back a short time later and found the home to be engulfed.
Police said they were able to locate Pooley several hours later and took him into custody after determining that the fire had been intentionally set by him.
