A look back: April 11, 1967

Marian Straub was named tax collector of Weissport during a special meeting of the borough council held last evening. Straub will fill the unexpired term of Naomi Bowman, who resigned last week because of ill health.

It was stipulated at last evening’s meeting that Bowman will complete all the work on the 1966 duplicate and Straub’s work will begin with the 1967 duplicate. The new tax collector had served in that capacity previously, having completed a term in 1965, when she opted not to run for a second term.

Straub’s term will run through Dec. 31, 1969.
