A Carbon County jury found a Luzerne County man not guilty this week of two misdemeanor counts concerning vehicle registration requirements.

Aquiles V. Conde Shenery, 32, of Hazleton, was found not guilty of two counts of possession/sale/use display of documents. President Judge Roger N. Nanovic then found him not guilty of summary offenses of operating a vehicle without a valid inspection and evidence of emission inspection. Nanovic found him guilty of the summary offense of not having the headlights on his vehicle as required.

Shenery represented himself at the trial that lasted one day.

He was arrested by Palmerton police on Nov. 5, 2017, along Delaware Avenue following a vehicle stop.

During the trial Shenery told the jury that he was in Palmerton for the wrong reasons, concerning a drug transaction, and is currently in custody on other charges.

He is facing a charge of attempted homicide and related counts for an incident in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, filed by state police at Fern Ridge. The incident happened in January.

He is accused of shooting Harry Read, 39, following an argument outside the victim’s residence. Police said Shenery shot Read with a .22-caliber rifle. Read suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Shenery is an inmate in the county prison in Snydersville.
