Street sweeping planned in Tamaqua
You know spring has arrived when the robins return, the trees bud and the Tamaqua street sweeper resumes regular weekly operations.
The sweeper has been seen in the past few days, making tentative runs to ensure all the parts are working as needed. They are, which means this week will see a full week of operations.
Tamaqua Borough workers will post no parking signs in advance of each day’s schedule.
Streets marked for cleaning on Tuesday include: Lombard, from Rowe to Boyle Avenue; Laurel, from East End Avenue to end; Market, from Broad to Elm; High, from Bowe to Stadium Hill.
Wednesday’s schedule includes: Clay, from Pitt to Washington; Anderson, from Lehigh to Lombard; West Elm, from Cemetery to North Nescopec; Van Gelder, from Coal to South Nescopec; Biddle, from Greenwood to Ball Park.
The weekly street cleaning schedule will also resume next week. These streets are permanently posted, but residents haven’t had to worry about moving their vehicles since the street cleaner went into hibernation last fall.
Thursday’s regular weekly schedule includes: south side of Broad, former Maff Motors to west borough line; South Railroad, Broad to Spruce; Center, Broad to south Route 309 bridge; North Railroad, Broad to north Route 309 bridge.
Streets permanently posted for Fridays include: north side of Broad, former Maff Motors to west borough line; Mauch Chunk, Broad to Pine; Berwick, Broad to Rowe; Nescopec, Hegarty Avenue to Cottage Avenue; Pine, Cedar to north Route 309 bridge.
Streets may be added to this list from time to time until each street in town has been cleaned at least once.
Street sweeping operations will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and at 5 a.m. on Thursday and Friday.
Parking will be prohibited before and during operations. Vehicles not moved from posted streets at least two hours before the sweeper starts operations are subject to ticketing and towing.
Residents and business owners are welcome to clean their sidewalks the day before their street is cleaned.
