A look back: April 18, 2006
The Coaldale Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 will pass a milestone later this month when the organization marks 100 years of service to the community.
Recognizing the need for fire protection in town, 75 residents gathered on April 26, 1906, in the East Ward School to form a fire company.
The first officers included Alexander Murphy, president; William Evans, vice president; H.F. Blaney, recording secretary; Charles Melley, financial secretary; and Neal Boyer, treasurer. James Gallagher was the company’s first fire chief.
The current company president is Daniel Urban. Richard Marek is the fire chief.
