Nesquehoning
VFW Auxiliary
The regular monthly meeting of the VFW Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial Post 8008 will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 20 at the post home. Nomination and election of officers for 2018-19 will be held at this meeting.
All members are invited to attend.
Senior Center
The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of April 23-27 is:
Monday: Yankee pot roast and mashed potatoes or chicken craisin salad
Tuesday: Chicken scampi with spaghetti or turkey hoagie
Wednesday: Swedish meatballs and noodles or tuna sandwich
Thursday: Baked ham and sweet potatoes or chicken bacon sandwich
Friday: Chicken soup, turkey salad sandwich, and beet salad
The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced upcoming events through April 27.
Try your skills with Minute to Win It at 11 a.m. on April 23; Scattergories at 11 a.m. on April 24; Bingo at 11 a.m. April 25; Senior Games Practice starting at 10:30 a.m. on April 26; Movie and Popcorn starting at 10 a.m. on April 27.
Lansford
Golden Agers
There will be no scheduled meetings for the Panther Valley Golden Agers during the month of April. The next scheduled meeting will be May 14.
Summit Hill
Spring cleanup
Summit Hill will hold its spring cleanup event in May.
On May 5, the east side of town along with Knepper’s Trailer Court and East and West White Bear Drive will be picked up. May 8 will be the regular trash pickup.
On May 12, the west side of town along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop Road will be picked up. May 15 will be the regular trash pickup.
Items to be picked up include: tires (no more than four), tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves. All items shall have all chemicals removed and doors taken off. Freon must be removed from refrigerators, air conditioners etc. and tagged or they will not take them. In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.
Electronics recycling
Summit Hill will also host an electronics recycling event for borough residents on May 5.
Make sure the items are out the night before. Items to be picked up during this recycling include: televisions, computers, keyboards, monitors, etc. All TVs must be in one piece with no parts removed or they will not be taken. This will be a curbside pickup and will be for Summit Hill residents only.
