Northern Lehigh and Tamaqua both had pitchers toss no-hitters in baseball action on Monday.

BASEBALL

Moravian A.-No. Lehigh

Luke Eitner tossed a no-hitter as Northern Lehigh rolled to a 15-0 Colonial League victory over Moravian Academy.

Eitner struck out three and walked just one in the four-inning, mercy-rule shortened game.

Preston Bauer led the Bulldogs’ offensively with two singles, a run scored and an RBI. Eitner added a single, two runs scored and two RBIs; Brandon Hess and Aaron Rudolph both had a hit and two RBIs; and Mason Seiler singled and scored twice.

Tamaqua- Pine Grove

Thad Zuber and Brady Moyer tossed a combined no-hitter as Tamaqua rolled to a 12-1 Schuylkill League win over Pine Grove.

Zuber had nine strikeouts over five and two-thirds innings of work, while Moyer got the final out to finish off the no-hitter.

Zuber also helped himself with his bat, as he recorded two singles, a run scored and an RBI. Breiner finished with two singles, four runs scored and two RBIs; and Nick Breiner chipped in two hits.

Palmerton-Salisbury

Ben Serfass’ seventh-inning heroics lifted Palmerton to an 8-7 come-from-behind Colonial League victory over Salisbury.

Serfass, the Bombers’ leadoff hitter, delivered an RBI single to tie the game, and then raced home to score what proved to be the game-winner on a Falcons’ fielding error. Serfass finished with two singles, two run scored and two RBIs. Eric Baumgardt chipped in with two runs scored.

The Bombers’ Wade Haydt shined in relief, as he tossed four and two-thirds innings, surrendering just two hits and not allowing a run.

Pleasant Valley-ES North

A 12-run second inning put Pleasant Valley over the top in a 14-4 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over East Stroudsburg North.

Danny McEvoy led the Bears’ offense with a single, triple, run scored and five RBIs. Matt Burnett followed with a single, double, three runs scored and two RBIs; Brandon Ratti and Nick Gattuso both had a hit, two runs scored, and an RBI; Trevor Knappenberger and Evan Bond both scored twice; and Dallas Greenzweig added two hits.

Notre Dame of Green Pond used the strength of a seven-run second inning to secure a 13-2 non-league win over Marian.

Alex Kubishin paced the Colts with two singles and a run scored, while Dante Agosti ended up with a double and an RBI.

Lehighton dropped a 7-2 Schuylkill League decision to Pottsville.

Michael Bozielesky led the Indians with two singles and a run scored. Chris Whiteman (run scored) and Noah Sensinger (RBI) also contributed offensively.

SOFTBALL

Salisbury-Palmerton

Palmerton handed Salisbury its second loss of the season, posting a 5-1 Colonial League win.

Avery Neipert recorded a triple and two RBIs to lead the Bombers. Lexi Merkel added a single and an RBI.

Notre Dame-GP-Marian

Marian took an early lead and went on to post a 5-1 non-league victory over Notre Dame of Green Pond.

Reese Erbe had a single, double and two runs scored for the Fillies. Lyndsey Reinoehl added a single, a double and an RBI.

Reinoehl also had a powerful performance on the mound, striking out 12 and allowing just five hits to earn the complete game win.

Lehighton-Saucon Valley

A six-run fifth inning propelled Saucon Valley to a 13-2 non-league win over Lehighton.

Kendra Peterman led the Indians with a single and a double.

The Panthers’ Jaclyn Barbera finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs, which included a game-ending grand slam in the fifth.

Weatherly blanked Jim Thorpe for a 14-0 non-league win.

Hailey Wenner tossed the shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out eight.

Shannon Frye had three hits, one a triple, and scored four runs for the Wreckers (4-5).

The winners also received two hits from Corra Chincola, Necarlly Serrata, Katie Graham, and Ashley James.

Camryn Barnett’s seven-goal performance sparked Parkland to a 19-5 win over Pleasant Valley.

Juliana Lopez paced the Bears with two goals, while Savannah Bauman, Alyssa Grieco and Alyssa Loeper all finished with single scores.

BOYS LACROSSE

Moravian A.-Pleasant Vy.

Moravian Academy defeated Pleasant Valley, 17-9.

The Lions’ Alex Bellarmino and Victor Simone both finished with four goals.

BOYS TENNIS

Jim Thorpe-MMI Prep

MMI Prep edged Jim Thorpe, 3-2.

Raymond O’Neil had a singles’ win for the Olympians.

The Olympians’ doubles team of Connor Rodgers and Matt Widdicombe posted the other team point.

Jim Thorpe ended the season with a 7-10 record.

Tamaqua-Lehighton

Lehighton and Tamaqua split in a Schuylkill League meet.

The visiting Blue Raiders sneaked by the Indians 75 ½-74 ½ to win on the girls’ side, while the host Indians captured a 86-64 victory on the boys’ side.

The Indians’ trio of Karissa Hough (100H, 300H), Kaia Slaw (long, triple jump) and Tahmir Spencer (100, 200) recorded multiple first-place finishes.

Frances Kabana (800, 1600) was the lone multiple-event winner for Tamaqua.

Pleasant Valley-ES South

Pleasant Valley and East Stroudsburg South split an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference track meet.

The PV boys won a narrow 78-72 decision, while the girls dropped a close 77-73 contest.

Seven different Pleasant Valley boys won individual events, while the Bears also captured two of the three relay events.

PV’s Armani Dunkley (200, high jump) earned multiple wins in the girls meet.
