Band concert
The Pleasant Valley High School Band Concert will be presented at 7:30 tonight.
Rotary
The West End Rotary Club meets weekly at 7:30 a.m. at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.
Mission meal
The Mission Meal at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert will again be served from 4:40 to 5:45 p.m.
PTO meeting
The Pleasant Valley Intermediate School PTO will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Democrats meet
The West End Democratic Club is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the West End Firehouse in Brodheadsville.
School Board meets
The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the district office in Brodheadsville.
Eldred tax office
The tax collector’s office was closed. It will reopen at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
Monday is the final day for the discount period. The office will be open from 2 to 6 p.m.
Arbor Day event
The Monroe County Garden Club will plant five disease-resistant chestnut trees, donated from Lowe’s, at the Kettle Creek Environmental Center, 8050 Running Valley Road, Stroudsburg, from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday.
The Stroudsburg High School Show Choir will perform. Christine Leskosky, the president of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania, and Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf will attend the ceremony. Veterans will present the flag.
The Garden Club will present a plaque to be placed at the foot of the trees to honor club members Shirley Young and Sheila Bortree for their service to the community and local gardens.
Parking will be provided at the Giant Supermarket on Route 611, Bartonsville, in a marked area near the gas station. A shuttle will be provided to Kettle Creek.

Seniors lunch
Turkey salad sandwiches are on the menu for the Friday meeting of the Chestnuthill group of Monday County Seniors gathering at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville. May’s have not yet been announced.

There is a suggested donation.
Kunkletown concert
St. Matthew’s UCC in Kunkletown is hosting The O’Donnells in a Country Gospel Concert at 7 p.m. Friday at 102 Church Road.
There is a requested minimum donation for this fundraising event.

PVI presentation
The Pleasant Valley Intermediate School’s drama musical will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and will also be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Effort Pantry
The Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Craft/gift fair
A craft/gift fair is being held Saturday at the Chestnuthill Township Park in Brodheadsville. Vendors are wanted. There are both indoor and outdoor spaces available.
Crafters and direct sellers such as Avon, Scentsy, etc., are welcome.

Take-back initiative
For West Enders wanting to participate in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, the closest sites are: Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department and St. Luke’s Universal Health Network Monroe Campus.

Beef dinner
St. Peters UMC, Route 115, Saylorsburg, is hosting its roast beef dinner from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Takeouts are available until 5:30 p.m. For ticket prices for adults and kids call the church at 570-992-7311. Children 5 and under eat for free.
The meal is served family style and includes roast beef, mashed potatoes with gravy, glazed carrots, coleslaw, green beans, dinner roll, beverage and dessert.
Spring Pops
The Pleasant Valley Choral Society presents its Spring Pops ’18 at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Pleasant Valley High School auditorium, Route 209, Brodheadsville.
This is the 35th anniversary celebration.
