Tamaqua news for May 2, 2018
Community breakfast
Tamaqua’s National Day of Prayer observance will be held this Thursday and will include a community breakfast and time of prayer.
Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. in Founder’s Hall of Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., Tamaqua.
After the meal, participants will walk outside to the parking lot, where they will offer prayers for various areas of American society and culture. The lot provides a panoramic view of the borough. Members of the Tamaqua Ministerial Association will lead the prayers.
Everyone is welcome and freewill offerings will be accepted to help defray the cost of the breakfast. If there are any excess funds, they will be donated to the Tamaqua Hunger Walk, which is being held the weekend of May 5 and 6.
For those who wish to join in the prayer but not the breakfast, please arrive at the church no later than 9:45 a.m.
Soup social
The next monthly community soup social at Trinity United Church of Christ will be held on Saturday. The social will be held from 4-6 p.m. in the social hall. Please use the entrance at the lower parking lot.
The meal is free to the public and everyone is welcome to enjoy the soup, desserts, refreshments and time with friends.
