A look back: May 3, 1993
The American Hose Company of Tamaqua celebrated its 115th anniversary on Saturday night with a banquet and dinner-dance held at the Tamaqua Community Center.
Guest speaker was John Mercuri, director of the Schuylkill County Communications Center, who outlined the new 911 emergency phone service that will become effective in the county in September.
The company officers who were acknowledged included James Connely, president; Jay Hollenbach Sr., vice president; Russ Arnold, secretary; Richard Houtz, treasurer; and Ed Kester, Rick Bachman and Jay Hollenbach Jr., trustees. Art Connely Jr. is the company’s fire chief.
