Woman admits stealing over $14,000 from employer
A Carbon County woman admitted in the county court on Monday to stealing over $14,000 from her former employer.
Amanda Dawn Rogers, 30, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of theft, as a felony, for an incident at the Fuel Up gas station located at 701 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning.
Borough police charged that Rogers became acting manager of the business in 2015 and during a period of time took money from the lottery account and regular store account. The initial police report indicated that Rogers stole more than $15,000 from the lottery account and over $400 from the store register. However, on Monday the victim requested restitution of only $14,031.
Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the plea and immediately sentenced Rogers to serve eight to 23 months in the county prison followed by two years of probation. She was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, pay court costs of about $1,000, supply a DNA sample, render a total of 100 hours of community service when paroled, pay the restitution figure requested by the victim, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and probation and stay off the Fuel Up property.
Rogers, who has been in prison since her arrest, was given credit for 245 days already served.
