Carbon voters elect committee members for both parties

Voters from the Democratic and Republican parties in Carbon County elected committeemen and committeewomen to represent them on the local level during Tuesday’s Primary Election.

The Democratic Party rules call for one committeeman and one committeewoman to be elected in each of the districts, for a total of 102 representatives.

The Republican Party rules call for committee members to be elected on an at-large basis with a designated amount of representatives in each municipality, as follows: 16 in Penn Forest Township; eight each in Towamensing and Franklin townships; seven each in Lehighton, Jim Thorpe and Palmerton boroughs and Mahoning Township; five in East Penn Township; four each in Lansford, Nesquehoning, Summit Hill and Weatherly boroughs and Lower Towamensing Township; three each in Kidder Township South and Packer Township; and two each in Banks, Lausanne and Lehigh townships, Kidder Township North and Beaver Meadows, Bowmanstown, East Side, Parryville and Weissport boroughs. The GOP has 109 committee positions to be filled.

All of the committee member positions are for four-year terms.

There were no contested races. The results are as follows:

Democrats

Banks Township: Irene Makowiec, 105, and Joseph J. Bodnar Jr., 104.

East Penn Township: Albert Holczman, District 7, 57.

Jim Thorpe: Edith Lukasevich, 58, and Patrick E. Crowley, 74, both in District 14; and Ronald J. Sheehan, 76, District 18.

Lansford: Susan Tesner, 70, and Edward Dorman, 70, both in District 23; Kara S. Krajnak, 55, and Terrance B. McCall, 54, both in District 24; and Robert M. Dobosh, 53, District 25.

Lehighton: Helen Torok, 52, and Tibor Torok, 49, both in District 28; and Carol B. O’Brien, 68, District 30.

Lower Towamensing Township: Dorothy M. Mendez, 66, and Bernard J. Mendez, 67, both in District 32, and Tina Henninger, 45, District 33.

Mahoning Township: Sue Ann Lewine, 103, District 35.

Palmerton: Frances A. Carazo, 130, and Kris B. Hoffner, 126, both in District 48; and Deborah A. Smith, 33, District 49.

Penn Forest Township: Joann M. Behrens, 80, District 51-02.

Summit Hill: Claudia Marie Kupec, 96, and Nathan Halenar, 100, both in District 52; Dolores McAndrew, 69, and Brian J. Dolena, 72, both in District 53; Jennilee Kosciolek, 72, and William J. O’Gurek Jr., 74, both in District 54; and Deborah J. Gigliotti, 41, and Robert F. Gigliotti, 40, both in District 55.

Towamensing Township: Linda A. Christman, 47, and Roy B. Christman, 46, both in District 56.

Weatherly: Mildred Selert, 57, and Arnold R. Selert, 61, both in District 58.

Republicans
