Walnutport officers recognized

A pair of Walnutport police officers were recognized during last week’s borough council meeting.
Borough police Chief Pete Wayda acknowledged the work of officers Scott Ledo and Nicholas Hartman with commendations.
Wayda said that at around 11:45 a.m. Nov. 12, Ledo was dispatched to a report of a car fire at 406 Main St., the location of Britton Business Machines.
Upon arrival, Wayda said Ledo deployed two fire extinguishers into and under the hood of a car that was parked near the business and apartments at that address.
He said Ledo was able to move the car away from the building, preventing the building itself from being damaged by the fire. Ledo was assisted on scene by the Diamond Fire Company.
Wayda said that at 8:35 p.m. Nov. 29, Hartman was dispatched to assist EMS in the Lincoln Manor apartment complex.
Upon arrival, Wayda said Hartman observed an unresponsive male, and after checking his vital signs, he realized that the male was not breathing.
He said Hartman moved the male onto the floor and began CPR after notifying the Comm. Center to expedite the EMS response.
Hartman continued to perform CPR until relieved by EMS and fire department personnel, Wayda said.
He said the victim in this incident did survive, and that Hartman was assisted on scene by Northern Valley EMS and the Diamond Fire Company.
