Franklin Township supervisors
Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:
• Awarded bids to Shiffer Bituminous Service Co. for seal coating on various roads within the township that totaled $45,741.
• Awarded various bids for road materials to Lehigh Asphalt, as well as one to Hanson Aggregates.
• Agreed to apply for the bulletproof vest grant for an officer that is in need of one.
• Directed the township solicitor to terminate the current lawsuit on Theresa Berger at 1345 Main Road.
• Approved a waiver request from Hanover Engineering for the Cara Serfass/Sandra Miller subdivision/land consolidation plan.
• Denied a request that payment of the recreation fees regarding the Cara Serfass/Sandra Miller subdivision/land consolidation plan be paid before the start of any future construction instead of at this time.
• Accepted the time extension until June 19 for action by the board of supervisors for the Cara Serfass/Sandra Miller subdivision/lot consolidation.
• Approved the Donald Dorward Sr. and Barry D. Solt’s minor subdivision/lot consolidation plan.
• Approved a request from Mahoning Township supervisors for the Franklin Township Fire Police to assist with traffic control at its annual Orioles Fest event May 31 through June 3.
• Approved the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company’s request to participate in a parade located in Mahanoy City on June 22. They will be taking one truck.
• A change in the garbage collection pickup for the Memorial Day holiday from May 28 to May 29.
• Fishing at (only the stocked pond) the Phifer’s Ice Dam Park will only be opened to children 15 and under through June 4.
