    Tamaqua American Legion, C.H. Berry Post 173, has selected Emily Beltz, 8, daughter of Richard and Jennifer Beltz, as the 2018 Poppy Queen. In a time-honored tradition, Tamaqua Mayor Nathan Gerace stepped forward to buy this year’s first poppy. The red poppy has become a national symbol honoring those who served in the military and died for their country. Poppies are available at the Legion post on West Broad Street and will also be available during the Memorial Day Parade on Monday. KATHY KUNKEL/TIMES NEWS
