A look back: May 30, 1981

Billig’s Pharmacy opened its doors for business in Summit Hill earlier this month. The pharmacy, owned by Mel Billig, a former Summit Hill resident now living in Allentown, says he decided to open the business because of the need for such a service in the community.

Billig is not a pharmacist himself and has obtained the services of Jon J. Swallow of Northampton as pharmacist-manager for the new business.

Swallow, a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science who has previous experience with the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Thrift Drugs and Cedar Crest Pharmacy, plans to relocate to Summit Hill within the next few months.
