Carbon County court — DUI

Seven people who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced on Tuesday in Carbon County court.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II imposed sentences on the following:

Patricia Lynn Moyer, 53, of Palmerton, was sentenced to serve nine to 60 months in prison, pay a fine of $2,500 and her license was suspended for 18 months.

She was arrested on Oct. 3, 2015, by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

She will serve the sentence on consecutive periods of Monday to Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. June 4 and alternating the next week, Monday to Friday, until the nine months is served. The term runs concurrent with another DUI sentence for which she is already on parole.

Richard Kennedy, 33, of Tamaqua, was sentenced to serve 78 days to six months in prison, a fine of $1,000 and one-year license suspension.

He was arrested by Lehighton police on Oct. 1, 2017. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was given credit for 78 days already served and paroled.

Jacob Tyler Hofacker, 24, of Palmerton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and one-year license suspension.

He was arrested on June 30, 2014, by state police at Lehighton along Route 248 in Franklin Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program, but was revoked for violating conditions.

He will begin serving his sentence at 2 p.m. on June 11.

John Tworkowsky, 25, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and one-year license suspension.

He was arrested on July 17, 2017, near the intersection of Skyline Drive and Fairyland Road by Franklin Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.

He received credit for 137 days already served and was paroled.

Alexis Jordan, 23, of Bath, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in prison, a fine of $500 and one-year license suspension.

She was arrested on Feb. 10, 2017, by state police at Lehighton.

She will serve the prison term on consecutive weekends beginning at 4 p.m. on June 1, two days; and 4 p.m. June 8, three days.

John J. Chattin, 46, of Albrightsville, was sentenced to serve 12 to 60 months in prison, a fine of $1,000 and his license was suspended for 18 months. On an endangering the welfare of a child charge he was sentenced to the same term, concurrent with the DUI count.

He was arrested on April 29, 2017, along Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township, by state police at Lehighton after being involved in a crash. A 9-year-old male juvenile was a front-seat passenger. He refused to submit to a blood test.

The term runs concurrent with a state prison term he is serving of 12 to 24 months imposed by Northampton County in April.

Assault case

Zachary Laubach, 19, of Palmerton, was placed on probation for a year on a charge of simple assault he previously pleaded to.

He was arrested on Dec. 10, 2017, by Palmerton police for assaulting a juvenile male at the Carbon Mini Mart along Delaware Avenue.

He was also ordered to make restitution of $2,750 to the victim and have no contact with him.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation, and those charged with DUI must follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
