Monarchs get LVL victory

The Carbon Monarchs exploded late in the game to defeat Lower Macungie on Tuesday.

The Carbon Monarchs exploded for 10 runs in the sixth inning to break open a scoreless tie and post a mercy-rule victory over Lower Macungie in Lehigh Valley Legion action.

Justin Marykwas had a strong outing on the mound for the Monarchs tossing six shutout innings. Marykwas allowed just four hits and one walk, while striking out six.

Daniel Keer had the big hit in the Monarchs’ sixth-inning eruption. Keer had a three-run triple and scored twice in the inning. Jake Taras also played a key role in Carbon’s big inning with two hits and three RBIs. Brad Buzzard chipped in two hits, two walks, and two runs scored, while Logan Pagotto added a hit, an RBI, and a run scored.

The Monarchs have now won back-to-back games to improve their record to 2-1 on the season.
