Local students honored during IUP commencement

Indiana University of Pennsylvania honored Lauren Armbruster and Donald Winzer, local students who graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, at its May 12 commencement ceremonies.

Lauren is the daughter of Sherryl Armbruster and Lonny Armbruster of Lehighton. She is a 2014 graduate of Lehighton Area High School.

Armbruster received a degree in criminology. She was a member of the Criminology Association, Phi Eta Sigma honor society, Alpha Phi Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi honor society.

Donald is the son of Susan Winzer and Don Winzer of New Tripoli. He is a 2015 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School.

Winzer received a degree in communications media. A member of the Cook Honors College, he received the Sutton Scholarship and the IUP Ambassadors Scholarship. He was a member of the Student Film Association, IUP-TV, Phi Eta Sigma National Honors Society, Sigma Tau Delta English honors society and participated in the Indiana Seed Swap.
