A look back: June 14, 1967
Daniel Zeigler last night was elected fire chief of the Coaldale Fire Company, replacing Andrew Mikolay, who resigned last April.
Zeigler, who is head of the Zeigler Detective Agency, Coaldale, was seated as second vice president of the Pennsylvania Northeast Chiefs of Police Association last month. He formed the detective agency in 1960 and previously was on the staff of the McCartney Detective Agency, Lansford, from 1952-58, and was a sergeant with the Endy Detective Agency, Tamaqua.
Mikolay resigned in a dispute with Coaldale Borough Council over a $150 salary offered as fire alarm inspector. He served as fire chief for nearly 16 years.
