Tamaqua Area School Board

Tamaqua Area School Board’s finance committee on Tuesday recommended approving the following:

• The purchase of an integrated communication system for Tamaqua Elementary School at a cost not to exceed $150,000.

• Establishing the 2018-19 Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion at $148.92 reduction in assessed value of $3,871 for eligible properties per information provided to the district by the county assessment office.

• The 2018-19 breakfast and lunch prices: Elementary, $2.35; secondary, $2.60; adult, $3.75, and breakfast, $1.25.

• The 2018-19 St. Jerome’s lunch contract at $2.10 per student lunch.

• A one-year contract, from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019, with Leader Services of Hazleton, to process transactions billed through the Access Program.

The board’s auxiliary committee recommended approving the following:

• A partnership with the YMCA for a middle school after-school program for the 2018-19 school year.

• The Pay to Participate fees as follows: $30 for the first sport; $20 for the second sport; and $10 for the third sport.

• The request of Roseann Weinrich to hold the 2019 Senior Prom at Capriotti’s in McAdoo on May 4, 2019.
