Tamaqua District court

June 19 was criminal case day for preliminary hearings in the court of District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, giving defendants the opportunity to plead their case or waive charges to the Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.

Most cases were waived directly to court, including those involving defendants who were charged in multiple cases.

Tyler A. Cimino, 22, of Ben Titus Road, Tamaqua, faces drug-related charges in two cases filed by Rush Township Police in April. The first case is from April 14, with charges filed by patrolman Frederick Lahovski, while patrolman Bradley Hess filed the charges in an April 23 case. Charges for both cases include possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The earlier case includes charges of hindering the apprehension of a criminal and possession of marijuana, while the other case includes charges of operating a vehicle without a valid inspection sticker, speeding, operating unsafe equipment and driving with improper tires.

Bail was set at $25,000 for each case, which Cimino was able to post.

Glenna Fisher, 63, of Mahanoy Avenue, waived charges in two retail theft cases, with Rush Township patrolman Ryan Oldt filing the charges in both cases. On March 18 she was charged with conspiracy to commit retail theft and receiving stolen property, while on March 22, the charges include conspiracy, fleeing/attempting to elude police and resisting arrest.

She was released on her own recognizance in the first case, while bail was set at $10,000 in the second case.

Fisher posted bail on March 23.

Danielle M. Fulton, 30, of Hazle Street, Tamaqua, was the only scheduled defendant who elected to have a preliminary hearing. She was charged with making terroristic threats and harassment by Tamaqua patrolman Christian Deangelo after a Feb. 25 incident.

The charges were held for court.

Fulton remains free on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Elez Adzemovic, 26, of Carson Street, Hazleton, failed to appear in court for his preliminary hearing. He was charged with three counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and improper sun screening. The charges stem from a Jan. 1 traffic stop and were filed by McAdoo patrolman Steve Torres.

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Other defendants who elected to waive their preliminary hearings are:

Howard I. Boyer, 45, of Rolling Mill Avenue, Tamaqua, was charged with driving under the influence and disregarding the traffic lane by Coaldale patrolman Charles Blesse. The charges stem from an April 7 incident.

Boyer was released on his own recognizance;

Frederick Warren Strohl, 54, of Cherry Street, Tamaqua, faces charges of indecent assault and harassment. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Chief Henry Woods in connection with a March 28 incident.

Strohl was released on his own recognizance;

Daniel J. Sabol, 37, of East Bertsch Street, Lansford, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and driving without a proper child restraint system, a booster seat. Coaldale patrolman Thomas Sabulsky filed the charges after a March 17 incident.

Sabol was released on his own recognizance;

Terrence E. Bergeron, 29, of Brooklyn, New York, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving an unregistered vehicle. The charges stem from a May 12 traffic stop and were filed by McAdoo patrolman William Curilla.

Bergeron was released on $3,000 percentage bail;

Amanda Ann Ferdinand, 31, of Peace Street, Hazleton, will be in county court on charges of theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and issuing a bad check. The charges were filed by Kline Township Chief John Petrilla in connection with a Nov. 10, 2017 incident.

Ferdinand was released on her own recognizance;

Lewis C. Tucci, 20, of West Green Street, Hazleton, faces charges of possession of marijuana, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and failure to stop at a stop sign. Kline Township patrolman James Patterson filed the charges after a Dec. 12, 2017, incident.

Tucci was released on his own recognizance.
