Lansford woman sentenced to state prison for drug counts, DUI charges

A Lansford woman was sentenced to a state prison term on Friday on drug and drunken driving charges.

Alicia Susan Hibbler, 38, formerly of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve a total of 18 to 72 months in a state correctional institution by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

She previously pleaded to possession of a controlled substance on Jan. 21, charged by Lehighton police; possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence on Jan. 20, charged by Lehighton police; driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Jan. 13, charged by Lehighton police; driving under the influence and driving while her license was suspended or revoked on Feb. 14, charged by state police at Lehighton; and possession of drug paraphernalia on Feb. 4, charged by Lehighton police.

Defense Attorney Paul J. Levy, of the public defender’s office, said his client has a drug addiction problem and has attempted to get into a long-term rehabilitation program.

Hibbler, who has been in the county prison on the charges, told the court, “There isn’t a good reason for what I did.”

Serfass said the state system offers the best programs for Hibbler to address her addiction.

In addition to the jail term Hibbler was ordered to pay $3,500 in fines. Her license was suspended totaling four years on the DUI charges. She must also get a mental health evaluation and pay court costs of about $1,000.

She was given credit for 354 days already spent in prison on the charges.
