A look back: July 7, 1959

At a meeting last night in the Nesquehoning Recreation Center, the Mauch Chunk Township supervisors approved the articles of agreement for the annexation of the Bloomingdale area by Summit Hill Borough.

Under the terms, Summit Hill will assume the $6,000 bonded indebtedness of the township, which is Bloomingdale’s share of a debt still remaining to be paid on a $145,000 bond issue of 14 years ago.

Last night’s action came upon the recommendation of attorney Joseph Greco and Roland Shinton, township solicitor and engineer, respectively.
