Lehighton Heritage Coaster Race winners announced

The Lehighton Heritage Coaster Race was given a different look with many first-time drivers and winners.
“As usual the kids always have a great time no matter what the outcome,” said Rocky Ahner, race coordinator.
Moving the lanes toward the west side of Second Street gave both lanes an even level of competition. This was displayed by the fraction of inches victories.
In the age 8-11 Derby division, first place went to Abby Steigerwalt with Mia Nothstein taking second, and third place going to Evan Everett. Latoya Rausch took first place in the Derby 12-16 age group, while Aleise Romito took second and Brandon McCormick placing third.
Tire rule changes did not discourage the drivers in the Jalopy 8-11 division, as with all good driver they adapt. First place went to Kyelie Conrath, second was Makih Breiner and third was Parker Johnson.
Ahner also stated that this race was made possible by the sponsorship from the Lehighton Orioles Nest 183 Ladies Auxiliary.
The next race is the Cornfield Classic at the Mahoning Valley Fire Company’s Celebration of Community on Sept. 15.
