Andreas teen wins Country Harvest markets scholarship
Country Harvest Family Markets, through its partnership with Great Valu Supermarkets, has awarded its 14th annual Great Scholarships for Great Students scholarship to Orion Kirkpatrick, son of Collin and Vicki Kirkpatrick of Andreas.
Orion plans to attend Penn State-Berks Campus in the fall, where he will major in mechanical engineering.
The independent owners of Great Valu Supermarkets underwrite the Great Scholarships for Great Students program, which has awarded nearly $417,000 in scholarships to date. It is through this scholarship program that Country Harvest Family Markets recognizes the commitment of high school students to their education and communities.
The Great Scholarships for Great Students Program enables a deserving high school senior to receive a $1,000 scholarship to help defray the costs of their postsecondary education.
The program is managed by Great Valu’s Scholarship Committee, which selected the winner.
The applicants represented a broad cross-section of outstanding seniors from the Lower Carbon County, Northern Lehigh and Northampton counties and Eastern Schuylkill County areas.
The final selection was based on a variety of considerations, including academic standing, grade-point averages, extracurricular activities and individual student life challenges.
