Carbon County court — DUI

Two defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced on Friday in Carbon County court.

Judge Steven R. Serfass imposes sentences on:

David A. Shiffertt Jr., 29, of Coaldale, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.

He was arrested on June 16, 2016, by Lehighton police for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was given credit for three days already spent in jail on the charge and paroled.

Jason Cory Wisor, 33, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.

He was arrested on May 26, 2017, along Route 443 by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.12 BAC.

He was given credit for one day spent in jail on the charge. He began the jail term at 3 p.m. July 6 and served two days and July 13 at 3 p.m. will begin to serve the remaining two days.

Both defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
