Fire contained to garage in Walker

Quick response by area firefighters saved a home Saturday morning in Walker township.

The fire was reported at 9 a.m. at a home located in the ten hundred block of Catawissa Road at the intersection with Brook Lane.

Fire personnel quickly extinguished the flames before reaching the attached dwelling.

Fire companies from Walker and West Penn townships, Tamaqua, Tuscarora, New Ringgold and Pottsville responded to the scene as well as the Tamaqua Rescue Squad responded to the scene.
