Men of Marian plan annual summer picnic
The Men of Marian 49th annual summer picnic will be held on the grounds of Marian Catholic High School, 166 Marian Ave., Tamaqua, on July 27, 28 and 29.
The event will run from 5 to 10 p.m. on July 27; 4 to 10 p.m. on July 28 and 4 to 9 p.m. on July 29.
There will be homemade food including ethnic specialties, a bake sale and raffles.
The event is rain or shine.
Three bands will perform. Jean and the American Dream will take the stage on Friday; Sakes Alive will perform on Saturday; and Another Day Dawns will play on Sunday.
New this year is the Marian Summer Games, sponsored by the Men of Marian.
On July 27, there will be Three on Three Basketball Tournaments at 4 p.m. in the high school gym.

A 5K Run/3K Walk begins at 10 a.m. on July 28. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. at the Men of Marian Stadium entrance. Preregistration will be open until July 27 for a discounted price; race day registration is $30. Team pricing is available. Children 8 and under are free. An Outdoor Quads Volleyball Tournament will also take place on July 28.
Players should arrive at 8 a.m. and games begin at 8:30 at Men of Marian Stadium.
In case of rain, the location will move to the gymnasium. There are two divisions: Junior for grades seven to 12 and Adult. To register or for more information, call Coach Rachel Krajcirik at 570-225-6292.
The Punt, Pass & Kick Competition starts at 3 p.m. on July 28 at Men of Marian Stadium.
Participants may be between the ages 7-15. No entry fee needed.
