Steals from firefighter

A Lansford man has been charged in connection with the theft of items from a firefighter who responded to an crash scene in Coaldale.

The crash happened in Coaldale on July 11. A firefighter who responded directly to the scene discovered that someone had gone through his vehicle, taking his sneakers and a blue and black snow brush.

A witness told Coaldale Police the items were taken by Frank Allesch, 55, of West Front Street, Lansford. Allesch was contacted by police and admitted taking the items. He also said he returned the items to a bench at the fire station when he heard police were looking for him.

He was charged with theft by unlawful taking, theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct.
