July 19, 1989 — Lehighton rallies for three runs in the top of the seventh inning to edge West End 8-7 in the opening round of the Lehigh Valley Legion playoffs. Trailing by two runs, Matt Fritzinger is hit by a pitch to start the comeback. John Cooper follows with a double, before Matt Ligenza delivers a two-run single to tie the game. Ligenza eventually scores the go-ahead run on a balk call. George Gillespie tosses a scoreless bottom of the seventh to secure the victory.
