Lansford’s ‘Music in the Park’ series second half is set

Published July 19. 2018 12:40PM

The Lansford Alive Events Committee announced the entertainment scheduled for the second half of the 2018 “Music in the Park” series.

The program is held in Kennedy Park, located off Route 209, at the west end of the borough near the Panther Valley football stadium. The concerts are scheduled for each Sunday, between 6 and 8 p.m. The concerts are free.

A concession stand will be open to sell refreshments with all proceeds from the stand going toward the improvements in the park.

Committee Chairwomen Marie Ondrus and Irma Leibensperger said Mother Nature has not been kind to them for the first half of the summer. Four concerts had to be canceled due to inclement weather.

The committee noted that work has been done in the park with all trees that were dead or decaying removed and the remaining healthy trees trimmed and pruned.

All the work done by the Lansford Alive group is by volunteers for the nonprofit organization.

The committee is hoping the weather cooperates for the second half of the season and asks the public to support the efforts of the volunteers in organizing the concerts and making the improvements to the park.

The remaining schedule:

July 22, Big N Band Rcok-A-Billy Cats, of Pottsville. Vintage ’50-’60s good-time oldies.

July 29, Darren Frehuler, Lehighton, acoustic rocks, folk, country and R&A.

Aug. 5, Don and Donna Nye, Port Carbon, founding members of the Kings & Queens band, classic rock, country and oldies.

The committee reminds the public to bring lawn chairs or a blanket for personal comfort.
