Warrant issued for Effort man’s arrest

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Gerard Henry Vanspanje, 56, of the 800 block of Lower Mountain Drive, Effort, as a result of an incident at 6:37 p.m. June 16 at that residence.

Police said they were summoned to the residence to investigate a simple assault case and learned Vanspanje left the residence before their arrival.

The victim is a 44-year-old woman. Police said they obtained the warrant for Vanspanje’s arrest due to signs of physical injury on the woman.
