Panther Valley school board

Panther Valley School Board last week discussed repaving the junior-senior high school parking lot.

Maintenance supervisor George “Smokey” Krajnak said he had identified a local contractor who could do the work, but they were unavailable for the rest of the year.

He said he is looking for other contractors.

Board member Irene Genther asked if the parking lot is in poor condition because of mine subsidence.

Krajnak said he did not think that was the case.

The board approved the following items last week:

• Patricia O’Gurek was hired as junior-senior high school guidance counselor at a salary of $40,333; Richard Roberts as Intermediate School emotional support teacher at a salary of $38,954; and Kayla Stanek as Grade 3 teacher at a salary of $37,394.

• Resignations of Amy Kull, JSHS Spanish teacher, and Adrienne Pelo, elementary teacher.

• Transferred four teachers to different positions within the district.
