Men of Marian plan annual summer picnic

The Men of Marian 49th annual summer picnic will be held on the grounds of Marian Catholic High School, 166 Marian Ave., Tamaqua, this weekend.

The event will run from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

There will be homemade food, a bake sale and raffles, as well as live bands daily.

New this year is the Marian Summer Games.

On Friday, there will be Three on Three Basketball Tournaments at 4 p.m. in the high school gym. To register, contact Coach Mike Brennan at 570-952-1737. A 5K Run/3K Walk begins at 10 a.m. Saturday. An Outdoor Quads Volleyball Tournament will also take place on Saturday.

Players should arrive at 8 a.m. and games begin at 8:30 at Men of Marian Stadium.

In case of rain, the location will move to the gymnasium. There are two divisions: Junior for grades seven to 12 and Adult. To register or for more information, call Coach Rachel Krajcirik at 570-225-6292.

The Punt, Pass & Kick Competition starts at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Men of Marian Stadium.

Participants may be between the ages 7-15. No entry fee needed.
