Tamaqua, surrounding companies assists in Pottsville fire

Two homes were destroyed by a fast moving fire Saturday evening in Pottsville.

The fire was first reported at 7 p.m. in a home along the three hundred block of East Noreegian street. When fire fighters arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the home.

The flames quickly spread to an adjoining dwelling.

Fire companies from as far as Tamaqua responded to the scene. Firemen were kept busy trying to stop the fire from spreading to two adjacent commercial structures.
