Reading man charged in DUI in Tamaqua

Tamaqua police filed charges against a Reading man involved in a bizarre chase on July 2.

Ramon Luis Rodriguez, 23, was driving a gray Mazda in an erratic manner on Broad Street (Route 209). He was originally driving west, made a U-turn at the west end of the borough, then headed east. He lost control in front of St. Jerome's Church, struck a traffic sign pole and a tree, which sent the Mazda spinning across the street until it came to a stop in front of the Charles X. Block store.

Blood tests show Rodriguez was under the influence of alcohol (0.140 blood alcohol content) and several illegal drugs.
