Carbon driver facing charges

A Carbon County driver is facing charges following a one-vehicle crash that was reported about 3:46 p.m. on Sunday along Walnut Drive in Lower Towamensing Township.

State police at Lehighton said Herbert W. Green, 61, of Palmerton, was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee northbound when he lost control of the vehicle. The Jeep began to leave the east side of the road before Green overcompensated and the vehicle traveled across the road and onto the west berm where it struck an embankment. The Jeep continued up the embankment and struck a tree, where it came to rest.

Troopers said Green then fled the scene.
