Bethany EC Church

Bethany EC Church holds its Sunday church picnic including an 11:30 a.m. worship service followed by lunch and various activities on Sunday at Phifer’s Ice Dam, Franklin Township. No services at 222 North St.

Tuesday: Ladies Bible study at Blocker’s residence.

Wednesday: prayer meeting, 7 p.m.

Thursday: Men’s Bible study at McDonald’s, 5:15 a.m.

In need of men’s new or slightly used casual clothing of all sizes and children’s clothing infant through sizes 10-12 to be distributed at St. Peter’s community resource center. Clothing can be dropped off at side entrance to Bethany ECC Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Looking ahead:

• IronPigs Game: Friday.

• T.P. Trot: 10 a.m. Aug. 18, Weissport Canal. This event will center on a 2-mile fun walk (jog or run) along the Weissport Canal. There will be music, food and fun for all ages. The event is to raise funds for the St. Peter’s Resource Center. Bring a donation of five toiletry items (toilet paper, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.) for the pantry and your hot dog, chips and drink are free! Registration is available at St. Peter’s Facebook page through Eventbrite.

• Lumber River Ministries, North Carolina, during 10:45 a.m. worship on Aug. 26. The community is welcome to enjoy great gospel music.

• Women’s Book Club, beginning second Saturday in September.

Crossroads Community Church

Crossroads Community Church, 580 Coal St., holds Sunday worship service with Pastor Jim Banks. It is a place for a fresh start with God.

Adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. with nursery available; children’s Sunday school at 11 a.m.; fellowship following service.

Communion: Last Sunday of the month.

People’s EC Church

Musician Lee Whitaker will be sharing the Gospel through song at the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services at People’s EC Church, 216 Wagner St., on Aug. 26. Whitaker has had two No. 1 singles on the gospel charts and has played concerts around the world.

Trinity highlights

First Saturday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., is at 5 p.m. Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Gluten-free wafers are available for those with allergy issues. Included in the Sunday worship time will be installation of Vacation Bible School staff. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Rich Bergen assists. The church is air-conditioned.

Trinity’s Vacation Bible School “Splash Canyon: God’s Promise on Life’s Wild Ride” begins Monday. The program continue each week night, concluding Aug. 10, for children from the community ages 3 through sixth grade, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There is no registration fee. Last-minute registrations will be accepted.

The Rev. Moore announced the confirmation class program begins at 10:45 a.m. Sept. 9 and will continue weekly. For students entering seventh grade, please register by contacting the church office by Aug. 31 for more information.
