Monroe crashes

State police at Lehighton are investigating the following crashes in Monroe County.

• Police are looking for a suspect in a hit-and-run that took place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 9 at the intersection of routes 209 and 534 in Monroe County.

Police said a vehicle struck the sign that was located on a building owned by Angione Powersports, Kunkletown. No injuries were reported.

• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 3:33 p.m. June 13 at the intersection of routes 209 and 534 in Polk Township.

Police said the incident happened when a 21-year-old Kunkletown man, driving a 1999 Ford Taurus southbound on Route 209, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the rear of a trailer being hauled by a 2016 Toyota Tundra driven by a 43-year-old Albrightsville man. The Taurus was towed from the scene.

The driver was cited for failure to stop at a red traffic signal.

• Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 9:25 p.m. June 22 along Silver Spring Boulevard in Eldred Township.

Police said Jeffrey L. Borger, 64, of Kunkletown, was southbound when his vehicle crashed into the rear of a vehicle operated by Howard A. Polbos, 80, of Kunkletown. Polbos and passengers Claudette M. Polbos, 81; Cynthia L. Polbos, 56; and Richard V. Polbos, 49, all of Kunkletown, were injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by medical units from West End Fire Company and Palmerton. Borger was not injured. Borger's vehicle had to be towed.
