Coaldale man cited for possession

Coaldale Police have cited John Leroy Smith, 27, of West Abbott Street in Lansford, in connection with a May 14 traffic stop.

Smith was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for an exhaust system issue. He was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Tamaqua Police.

Before transporting Smith to Tamaqua, officers conducted a search and found 10 empty wax packets with white powdery residue. Smith admitted the packets had contained heroin.

He was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
