Clothing giveaway

Saturday will be the final day for the annual clothing giveaway at St. John’s Lutheran Church, South Avenue. On Friday, the hours the church will be open is 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Class picnic

Jim Thorpe High School class of 1964 will hold their second annual duck race and sixth summer picnic on Aug. 15 at the Jim Thorpe Sportsmen Club, Lentz Trail. Joann Lienhard Murtoff will be in charge of registering the ducks that will race along the Mauch Chunk Creek. The day will begin at noon. Ellie Barno Evans is in charge of the picnic foods/supplies. Members of the class should contact Evans about their donations.
